Telangana allocates 47,000 acres to Godrej Agrovet for oil palm expansion

Godrej Agrovet’s oil palm business announced today that it has been granted an area of 47,000 acres in Sangareddy District of Telangana by the Department of Agriculture and Cooperation (Horticulture & Sericulture), Government of Telangana.

The company plans to utilize this allotted area to expand its oil palm cultivation and establish oil palm processing units.

The Managing Director of Godrej Agrovet, Balram Singh Yadav, expressed his delight at receiving the additional district in the fresh allotment from the Telangana government. He emphasized that the allotment reflected Godrej Agrovet’s commitment to boosting oil palm plantations and promoting farmer prosperity in the region. He expressed gratitude to the Telangana government for their support and commitment to the initiative.

Balram Singh Yadav also touched upon GAVL’s long-standing expertise in the oil palm business, stating, “Our expertise of more than three decades in the oil palm business has enabled us to provide a variety of resources in addition to educating farmers on sustainable oil palm plantation processes.”

He added that further aggression and support from the state could significantly reduce the nation’s dependence on oil palm imports in the coming years. Godrej Agrovet recently inaugurated an edible oil refinery at Chintalapudi, Eluru district, marking the company’s first downstream project for value-added products in oil and fats.
