Tech Mahindra, Airtel join forces to grow India’s digital economy

Tech Mahindra has entered into a partnership with Bharti Airtel with an aim to grow India’s digital economy by bringing together their respective core strengths.

The parties will co-build and market 5G use cases in India for this purpose.

While Airtel is said to have been leading 5G demos and testing in India, Tech Mahindra has built 5G applications and platforms. The two firms will establish a joint 5G innovation lab for building Make in India use cases for the Indian and overseas markets.

Besides, Airtel and Tech Mahindra will introduce customized enterprise grade private networks to the market, which will be at the heart of the digital economy. The solutions will be focused on clubbing together Airtel’s integrated connectivity portfolio of 5G ready mobile network, SDWAN, Fiber, and Internet of Things (IoT) and Tech Mahindra’s capabilities in system integration.

“We are excited to partner with Airtel to provide innovative and cutting-edge solutions for enterprise customers. In line with Tech Mahindra’s NXT.NOW framework, this collaboration is focused on offering next-generation services to the Indian market by enabling transformation via network, cloud engineering and customer experience.”

To begin with, the partnership’s focus will be on automobiles, ports, aviation, chemicals, utilities, oil and gas with plans to extend to other industries in the future.

Additionally, Tech Mahindra and Airtel will offer businesses with secure cloud and content delivery network (CDN) solutions.

Airtel has a hybrid cloud portfolio with Airtel Cloud, Airtel IQ (CPaaS) and CDN offerings to help enterprises migrate to cloud based platforms as part of their digital transformation journeys. The company will explore leveraging the technological expertise of Tech Mahindra to support it in cloud engineering and implementation of tools for cloud orchestration.
