Tata Power to build 300MW solar project in Neemuch Solar Park

Tata Power has won the rights to build a 300MW solar project in the Neemuch Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh from Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL).

In this regard, Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL) has issued a letter of award (LoA) to the company’s fully-owned subsidiary TP Saurya Limited (TPSL).

The solar power project in the Neemuch Solar Park in Neemuch district has been awarded through tariff-based competitive bidding, which was followed by e-reverse auction.

It will be built in two phases with Unit 1 to be of 160MW and Unit 2 to be of 170MW capacity.

Dr. Praveer Sinha — CEO and MD of Tata Power said: “We are glad to receive this prestigious order for development and operation of 330 MW Solar Project from Rewa Ultra Mega Solar in Madhya Pradesh. We have been progressively growing our portfolio of grid-scale solar plants across the country.”

Tata Power said that its solar power project in the Neemuch Solar Park will supply power to the Indian Railways and the Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

The Neemuch solar power project is expected to be commissioned within 19 months from the date of signing the PPA.

Following the new project win in Madhya Pradesh, Tata Power has taken its total renewable capacity to 4.36GW, which includes an installed capacity of 2.95GW and 1.41GW under implementation.

Last month, the company’s subsidiary Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) commenced operations at its 100MW solar power project at the Raghanesda Solar Park in Gujarat.
