Tata Power and Ayodhya to boost EV adoption with new charging points

Tata Power, a leading entity in the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure sector, is partnering with the Ayodhya Development Authority to establish EV charging points across the city’s public parking locations.

This strategic collaboration is intended to facilitate the adoption of electric vehicles and endorse sustainable transport solutions in Ayodhya, a city revered for its religious significance.

The Ayodhya Development Authority and Tata Power are focused on advocating sustainable mobility, driving the transition to cleaner energy alternatives.

The initiative includes setting up EV charging points at pivotal public sites, such as Parking Survya Kund, Guptar Ghat, Amaniganj multi-level parking (MLCP) near the Jalkal Department, Kaushesh Kunj MLCP parking near Ayodhya railway station, Tedhi Bazar MLCP parking on both sides of Ayodhya, and the Collectorate Office parking in Ayodhya. These locations have been strategically chosen to ensure convenient and accessible charging facilities for EV users, offering an uninterrupted charging experience throughout the city.

This partnership with the Ayodhya Development Authority is significant, as Ayodhya is an internationally renowned tourist destination with religious importance, attracting a considerable number of global visitors. The Uttar Pradesh government has taken impressive steps to foster electric vehicle adoption in the state, providing tax and registration fee exemptions for three years on EV purchases.

Additionally, EVs produced within the state benefit from a five-year exemption, stimulating local EV manufacturing and boosting the state’s economy. These incentives aim to make EVs more affordable and accessible for Uttar Pradesh residents, advancing the shift towards cleaner, sustainable transport. In line with the Uttar Pradesh government’s vision, Ayodhya is taking an active role in promoting EV adoption by establishing supportive electric mobility infrastructure.

Till now, Tata Power has installed 110 public, semi-public charging stations across Uttar Pradesh. As the country’s largest EV charging point operator, holding nearly a 60% market share, Tata Power has established 40,000+ home chargers, 4,000+ public and semi-public charging points, and 250 bus-charging points. The company, which has energized chargers in 350 cities, continues to expand across the nation.
