Tata Motors launches state-of-the-art vehicle scrapping facility near Delhi
In a significant development for sustainable mobility in India, Tata Motors, the country’s premier automobile manufacturer, has officially opened its fifth Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) near Delhi. This facility, aptly named ‘Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect,’ was launched by Mr. Girish Wagh, Executive Director at Tata Motors. Boasting of environmentally friendly processes, the facility has the impressive capacity to dismantle 18,000 end-of-life vehicles annually. A collaborative effort with Johar Motors, the RVSF stands out for its capability to responsibly scrap passenger and commercial vehicles from all brands, reinforcing Tata Motors’ dedication to promoting sustainable practices in the automotive sector.
Girish Wagh reflected on this milestone, stating, “Tata Motors has been at the forefront of driving innovation and sustainability to shape the future of mobility. The launch of our fifth scrapping facility marks a significant step forward in making sustainable practices and responsible vehicle disposal more accessible. Creating value from scrap aligns with our vision of building a circular economy. It also contributes to the Government’s efforts to promote sustainable automotive practices. This state-of-the-art facility will set new benchmarks in disposing vehicles responsibly and pave the way towards a cleaner, more sustainable future for all.”
The Re.Wi.Re facility represents a paradigm shift in how end-of-life vehicles are processed. Designed with environmental stewardship in mind, the facility is equipped with advanced digitalized systems for the dismantling of vehicles. Its operations are seamless and entirely paperless, with dedicated areas for the dismantling of critical components such as tyres, batteries, and various fluids, ensuring their safe disposal in line with the vehicle scrappage policy.
By offering meticulous documentation and dismantling processes tailored to the needs of both passenger and commercial vehicles, the facility underscores Tata Motors’ commitment to detail and safety. This launch follows the success of Tata Motors’ previous RVSFs in Jaipur, Bhubaneshwar, Surat, and Chandigarh, and further establishes the company’s role as a leader in advancing sustainable initiatives within the automotive sector.
