Tata Consultancy Services launches TCS Cognitive Plant Operations Adviser
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has launched a 5G-enabled solution called TCS Cognitive Plant Operations Adviser for the Microsoft Azure Private Mobile Edge Computing (PMEC) platform.
The solution has been specifically designed to assist companies working in industries such as manufacturing, consumer packaged goods, oil and gas, and pharmaceuticals. It is expected to transform their production, using artificial intelligence (AI) machines and machine learning (ML) in order to help them become more agile, resilient, and intelligent.
Shriraj Gaglani — Microsoft VP Product Management said: “The convergence of edge compute, 5G networking and AI simplifies the design and delivery of modern connected applications like TCS’ Cognitive Plant Operations Adviser, driving factory automation, worker safety, productivity, and sustainability for global manufacturers. Leveraging Azure services brings simplicity to deliver and manage the solution at scale.”
TCS Cognitive Plant Operations Adviser is said to be a composite AI solution for process and manufacturing plant operations. It makes use of Microsoft Project Bonsai low-code, AI platform, for which Tata Consultancy Services is a launch partner. The solution will offer insight and data to plant managers to make decision-making in real-time and autonomously.
A part of the company’s Enterprise 5G Edge suite, the TCS Cognitive Plant Operations Adviser is integrated into Microsoft Azure private MEC to assist plant managers in reducing waste, improve equipment uptime, and reduce the risk of security incidents.
The 5G-enabled solution achieves the job by linking all the core elements required to create intelligent digital twins of plants, processes, systems, and plant operations by curating and applying digitally recorded domain and implicit knowledge.
It offers high-capacity computing that is secure and reliable connectivity to the production location, enabling auto-monitoring, self-diagnosing, automatic optimization, and self-learning.
Siva Ganesan — Tata Consultancy Services Head of Microsoft Business Unit said: “We are helping our clients with plant operations to build predictive and prescriptive capabilities into their production for superior outcomes using powerful cognitive and edge compute capabilities. We are delighted to launch the 5G-enabled TCS Cognitive Plant Operations Adviser solution, as part of our Enterprise 5G Edge suite of solutions on Microsoft Azure.”
