MDA Space secures Thales Alenia Space antenna contract for 66 European IRIS² satellites
MDA Space has secured an initial contract worth more than C$100 million to supply digital antenna systems for 66 satellites in Europe's IRIS² secure communications constellation. The agreement strengthens its position in sovereign satellite infrastructure, but the larger contract remains subject to finalisation while investors assess cash consumption, capital investment and the company's growth outlook.

Canada plans to repurpose existing Canadarm3 investments for lunar-surface operations, giving MDA Space a clearer route beyond NASA’s paused Gateway programme. The strategic opportunity could eventually extend into lunar logistics and commercial space stations, but Canada has not yet disclosed incremental contract value, revised scope or a new deployment timetable.
