Suzlon Group, India’s largest renewable energy solutions provider, has announced a significant milestone in its journey towards sustainable energy production. The company has won a new order for the development of a 225 MW wind power project for Everrenew Energy Private Limited, marking a substantial advancement in the renewable energy sector in India. This project, which involves the installation of 75 wind turbine generators (WTGs) with a Hybrid Lattice Tubular (HLT) tower and a rated capacity of 3 MW each, will be located at Vengaimandalam in the Trichy district and Ottapidaram in the Tuticorin district of Tamil Nadu.
The order comprises Suzlon’s large-rated 3 MW, S144-140m turbines from its 3 – 3.15 MW product series, known for their efficiency and reliability. As part of the agreement, Suzlon will not only supply the wind turbines but also oversee the project, including commissioning. Post-commissioning, Suzlon will undertake comprehensive operations and maintenance services, ensuring the longevity and productivity of the wind turbines.
Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, emphasized India’s growing global presence in renewable energy and the importance of partnerships in achieving national targets. He highlighted the project’s role in serving the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) segment of the Indian market, a key driver in the nation’s renewable energy ambitions.
JP Chalasani, Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group, expressed pride in the repeat order from Everrenew, underlining the trust in Suzlon’s product portfolio, tailored for the Indian wind regime. He noted that the power generated from this project would be used for captive needs as well as to power C&I customers, furthering the penetration of renewable energy in India.
R. Venkatesh, CEO of Everrenew Energy Private Limited, shared his company’s commitment to renewable energy transformation and the value of partnering with Suzlon. He stressed Everrenew’s dedication to driving renewable energy adoption in the C&I segment and facilitating impactful energy transition journeys.
Suzlon’s turbines, equipped with Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) technology, efficiently integrate into the utility network, meeting grid requirements. Suzlon’s R&D efforts focus on increasing turbine performance, harnessing energy from low wind sites, and reducing the cost of energy.
The project, capable of powering approximately 1.85 lakh households, is expected to curb around 7.31 lakh tonnes of CO2 emissions per year, making a significant contribution to environmental sustainability.
