SJVN Limited said that it will develop 1GW floating solar power projects in Assam in partnership with Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL).
For this, the joint venture between the Indian and Himachal Pradesh governments will make an investment of INR 6,000 crores.
In this connection, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a fully-owned subsidiary of SJVN, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Assam Power Distribution Company to execute the projects through a newly incorporated joint venture.
According to SJVN, the floating solar power projects in Assam will produce 2,192 million units in the first year upon commissioning and nearly 50,425 million units over 25 years.
SJVN stated: “The company has aligned its Shared Vision of 5000 MW by 2023, 25000MW by 2030 & 50000 MW capacity by 2040 with that of Government of India’s target of achieving 50% energy from non-fossil fuel sources by 2030. As a strategic & reliable partner, SJVN plans to play a vital role in clean energy transition of the nation.”
