Site Group International wins mining training contract from OceanaGold
Site Group International Limited, a renowned provider of education and training services, has recently signed a significant contract with multinational gold producer OceanaGold Corporation (TSX: OGC). The contract involves providing training for the recommencement of underground mining at OceanaGold’s Didipio mine, located at the Clark facility in the Philippines. The initial training program, valued at approximately AUD $1.8 million, will engage around 110 candidates, starting from 26 November 2023.

The collaboration is expected to generate over AUD $4 million in annual revenue for Site Group International, starting in 2024, with over 500 new and existing OceanaGold staff participating in various courses. These courses, ranging from USD $1,500 to $5,000 per person, will cover diverse aspects of underground mining operations, including safety protocols and specialized skills. The training environment, established in partnership with OceanaGold and other industry leaders, offers a comprehensive platform for skill development in underground mining.

Constructed in 2015, the Underground Mine Training Environment at Site Skills Training in the Philippines represents a significant investment in mining education. Supported by contributions from OceanaGold and partners, the facility features 250 meters of metalliferous tunneling, designed for the competency assessment and training of underground mine personnel. The venue accommodates various training scenarios, from basic health and safety skills to advanced drilling and emergency response techniques. This facility is open to all mining companies and industry participants, both locally and globally.
