In a harrowing incident that has shocked Queens, New York, four people, including two children, were tragically killed in a stabbing attack in the Far Rockaway neighborhood. The suspect, later identified as 39-year-old Courtney Gordon, died from injuries after a confrontation with the police.
Emergency Call Leads to Tragic Discovery
The New York Police Department received a distressing 911 call early Sunday, reporting a homicidal rampage at a residence on Beach 22nd Street. Two officers responded to the scene, encountering Gordon, who was reportedly leaving the house with luggage.
Violent Confrontation with the Suspect
The situation escalated when Gordon, armed with a knife, attacked the officers. Reports indicate that one officer was stabbed in the neck and chest, while another suffered head injuries. In a critical move to neutralize the threat, one officer shot Gordon, who was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Gordon’s prior arrest record in Bronx County for domestic violence added a chilling context to the incident.
Tragic Loss and Emergency Response
Upon arrival, law enforcement found an 11-year-old girl at the front of the residence, who later succumbed to her injuries. Inside the house, the bodies of a 12-year-old boy, a 44-year-old woman, and a male in his 30s were discovered. Additionally, a 61-year-old woman, critically injured, was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital. A kitchen steak knife, recovered from the crime scene, added to the gravity of the tragedy.
