Shelf Drilling to acquire Deep Driller 7 drilling rig from Aban Offshore

Shelf Drilling said that a subsidiary of the company has agreed to acquire the Deep Driller 7 jack-up drilling rig from a subsidiary of Indian offshore drilling services provider Aban Offshore for $30 million (INR 234 crores).

Constructed in 2018, the Deep Driller 7 rig is of Baker Marine Pacific Class 375 design. Presently, the jack-up drilling rig is stacked in the UAE.

Shelf Drilling said that it will fund the consideration for the high-spec jack-up rig with cash on hand.

The deal is subject to customary closing conditions, and the delivery of the Deep Driller 7 jack-up drilling rig is likely to be in July 2022.

Earlier this month, Shelf Drilling won a three-year contract extension for the Shelf Drilling Achiever jack-up rig in the Arabian Gulf.
