Segway Robotics partners with NVIDIA on Nova Orin Developer Kit to redefine boundaries of robotic innovation

In a significant move for the robotics industry, Segway Robotics, a leader in autonomous mobile robot (AMR) technologies, has teamed up with NVIDIA to unveil the Nova Orin Developer Kit (DevKit) at the NVIDIA GTC conference. This global AI conference, which took place from March 18-21 at the San Jose Convention Center and online, served as the platform for the introduction of this groundbreaking developer kit, poised to redefine the boundaries of robotic innovation.

The Nova Orin DevKit, building on the success of last year’s Nova Carter development robot—a collaborative effort between Segway and NVIDIA—aims to make robotics development more accessible and efficient. By leveraging Segway’s expertise in robotic mobility and NVIDIA’s cutting-edge AI and GPU accelerated computing, this developer kit offers a robust platform for creators to develop robotic applications capable of navigating and interacting with the world in ways never before possible.

Responding to the developer community’s input on the Nova Carter, the Nova Orin DevKit has been designed to provide an unprecedented level of customization while maintaining ease of assembly and calibration. It stands out as an all-in-one, fully integrated compute and sensing solution, ideal for addressing the complex challenges of AMR in large and dynamic environments.

Equipped with the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin system-on-module, the Nova Orin DevKit features stereo cameras (RGBD) and high-speed surround cameras to enable 3D surround vision. It comes preinstalled with components of the NVIDIA Isaac platform, including sensor drivers, a nominal calibration file, and the NVIDIA Isaac Perceptor packages, allowing users to immediately leverage the Isaac Perceptor stack.
