Sandvik acquires metrology and automation company DWFritz Automation

Swedish engineering company Sandvik has closed the previously announced acquisition of DWFritz Automation, a US-based metrology and automation company.

DWFritz Automation is engaged in providing precision metrology, inspection, and assembly solutions for advanced manufacturing.

Based in Wilsonville, Oregon, the company also has offices in China and France. Its clients include various Fortune 500 customers for whom it has installed more than 2,000 systems around the world.

Last year, DWFritz Automation earned revenues of around SEK 720 million ($78 million).

The acquisition will enable Sandvik to broaden its existing metrology offering and take a top position in in-line metrology, including an improved position in non-contact inspection and assembly automation.

DWFritz Automation will be reported by Sandvik in its metrology division within Sandvik Manufacturing and Machining Solutions.

Recently, Sandvik completed the acquisition of CNC Software, the company behind the Mastercam CAM brand.
