Pokarna Engineered Stone Limited has officially inaugurated its INR 500 crores quartz surface manufacturing plant at Mekaguda village near Hyderabad.
The inauguration was done by Telangana IT, Industries, Municipal Administration, and Urban Development Department Minister KT Rama Rao.
The subsidiary of Pokarna Limited has another quartz surface manufacturing factory in Atchutapuram, Andhra Pradesh, which has been operating since 2009.
Gautam Chand Jain — Chairman and MD of Pokarna Limited said: “Our brand-new factory, manufactures quartz surfaces and commenced commercial production on 24 March, 2021.”
The new quartz surface manufacturing plant spans 160,000sqm with a built-up area of six lakh square feet. Its annual production capacity is nine million square feet.
With the new plant, Pokarna Engineered Stone has generated 500 new jobs alongside 3,000 indirect jobs in the form of spin-off employment.
The quartz surface manufacturing factory is equipped with Bretonstone technology from Italy. It has also deployed robots and other process automation systems for underpinning a variety of Industrial 4.0 applications.
Through the Mekaguda factory, Pokarna Engineered Stone will boost its installed capacity to 15 million square feet per annum. The premium quartz surface manufacturer is estimated to have a turn over of nearly INR 400 crores from the new plant in Mekaguda.
