NetApp acquires cloud optimization platform CloudCheckr
NetApp, a US-based cloud-led, data-centric software company, has acquired cloud optimization platform CloudCheckr for an undisclosed price.
Based in New York, CloudCheckr is said to provide cloud visibility and insights to reduce costs, maintain security and compliance, while streamlining cloud resources.
According to NetApp, the acquisition broadens Spot by NetApp’s FinOps and SecOps services by combining critical cost visibility, reporting, and analytics from the CloudCheckr. CloudCheckr platform with ongoing optimization of costs and automated services provided by Spot by NetApp.
Combining the capabilities can help organizations better understand and manage their use of cloud resources and quickly realize the benefits at scale, said NetApp.
The acquisition of the cloud optimization platform is also said to continue the investment of NetApp in the innovation and expansion of the Spot by NetApp portfolio.
The deal was announced in October 2021.
At the time of signing the deal, Anthony Lye — NetApp Public Cloud Services business unit executive vice president and general manager said: “Managing costs while accelerating cloud applications is a significant challenge for organizations as they work to maximize the ROI of their cloud investments, all while running at cloud speed.
“By adding cloud billing analytics, cost management capabilities, cloud compliance and security to our CloudOps platform through the acquisition of CloudCheckr, we are enabling organizations to deploy infrastructure and business applications faster while reducing their capital and operational costs.
“This is a critical step forward in our FinOps strategy as well as an acceleration of our overall CloudOps leadership. Simply put, NetApp continues to empower customers to achieve more cloud at less cost.”
