Motherson Sumi Systems acquires Bombardier’s EWIS business in Mexico

Motherson Sumi Systems Limited (MSSL) said that it has wrapped up the acquisition of the electrical wiring interconnection systems (EWIS) business of Bombardier Transportation in Huehuetoca, Mexico.

The acquisition valued at about $10 million was announced in October 2020 by the Indian automotive component manufacturer. It was executed by the company’s Mexican subsidiary – Motherson Rolling Stocks (MRS).

A part of Motherson Rolling Stock Division, Motherson Rolling Stocks is engaged in designing and manufacturing electrical cabinets, electrical distribution systems, and power packs for rolling stock manufacturers.

Motherson Sumi Systems said that it has supported the transformation process of Bombardier Transportation over the last years and the closing of the deal in Mexico is in line with the same. Previously, Motherson Sumi Systems had also acquired the UK rolling stock electrical component and systems business in Derby of the Canadian train transport company.
