Moody’s, Microsoft forge alliance for enhanced data and risk solutions

Moody’s Corporation and Microsoft are stepping into a strategic alliance aimed at delivering an enhanced suite of data, analytics, research, collaboration and risk solutions to the world of financial services and global knowledge workers.

The partnership melds Moody’s strong data and analytical capabilities with the power and scale of Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service, opening up a new realm of innovative offerings that boost insights into corporate intelligence and risk assessment.

As part of this collaboration, the two giants are co-creating products and services for research and risk assessment, bolstered by Azure OpenAI Service for improved data and risk management.

“We look forward to the new opportunities and value this will bring to employees and firms across banking, capital markets and insurance as well as those in other industries such as manufacturing, telecommunications, transportation and utilities.”

Moody’s has already rolled out “Moody’s CoPilot”, an internal tool based on large language models (LLMs) and Microsoft’s generative AI technology, to its 14,000 employees worldwide. The tool fuses Moody’s proprietary data, analytics, and research to fuel firm-wide innovation and productivity.

A similar tool, “Moody’s Research Assistant”, will be offered to customers, granting them a nuanced view of risk through the utilization of Moody’s resources and solutions. Powered by Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service and accessible through channels including Microsoft Teams, it will synthesize complex data from various sources into concise, informative answers.

Additionally, Moody’s is integrating Microsoft Teams to offer a revamped platform for knowledge workers and customers. The move is expected to automate manual workflows, offer efficient access to data, and condense information from multiple data sets, leading to enhanced insights, productivity and compliance.

On the other side, Microsoft is drawing on Moody’s broad suite of solutions, including its powerful Orbis database, for internal use and co-innovations. The two companies are also collaborating to distribute data to shared customers via Microsoft Fabric, a new analytics platform.

Lastly, Moody’s is embracing Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform to fuel its expanding set of generative AI capabilities and cloud-based applications.
