Indian car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India said that it had sold 159,691 units in April 2021.
According to the company, it recorded domestic sales of 137,151 units, sales to other Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) 5,303 units, and exports of 17,237 units.
Maruti Suzuki India said that as April 2020 had a lockdown forced by the onset of Covid-19, which led to nearly zero sales, a comparison with the reported month has no meaning.
In April 2019, the Indian car manufacturer sold 143,245 units and in April 2018 had sold 172,986 units.
For April 2021, Maruti Suzuki India sold 25,041 units of Alto, S-Presso, and other mini passenger vehicles. The company sold 72,318 units of WagonR, Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Tour S, Dzire, and other compact passenger vehicles.
Overall, the company sold 98,926 passenger vehicles to go along with 25,484 utility vehicles such as Gypsy, Vitara, Ertiga, S-Cross, Brezza, and XL6, and 11,469 Eeco vans. In the light commercial vehicles category, Maruti Suzuki India sold 1,272 units in April 2021 under the Maruti Suzuki Super Carry brand.
