Maersk Drilling said that it has re-entered into a one-well contract with Petrogas North Sea, worth around $5.4 million, for the Maersk Resilient jack-up rig at the Birgitta field in the UK North Sea.
The parties had agreed to exercise their previously agreed exclusive option for using the harsh-environment rig for drilling an appraisal well at the offshore field.
The contract is anticipated to begin in end-2021 and is in direct continuation of the current work scope of the Maersk Resilient jack-up rig.
The contract is estimated to have a duration of 60 days.
Claus Bachmann — Maersk Drilling North Sea Division Head said: “We’re very pleased to get this opportunity to re-start the Birgitta project which was temporarily halted due to the global pandemic and the challenging market conditions the industry experienced last year. This is another testament to our strong relationship with Petrogas.”
