LUKOIL begins construction of catalytic cracking complex at Perm refinery
Russian energy company LUKOIL has launched the construction of a catalytic cracking complex at its Perm refinery in Russia.
The catalytic cracking project is being executed by the company under an agreement with the Russian Energy Ministry after securing an investment incentive as part of the negative excise tax on refinery feedstock until 1 January 2031.
According to LUKOIL, the feedstock capacity of the catalytic cracking complex will be 1.8 million tonnes per year. The complex will house a catalytic cracking unit, a high-octane gasoline components unit, as well as infrastructure facilities.
The Russian oil and gas said that the distinguishing feature of the new complex at the Perm refinery will be the high adjustable propylene yield.
The catalytic cracking complex is targeted to be launched in 2026. LUKOIL said that this will enable it to boost production of high-octane motor gasolines and to begin production of polymer grade propylene to be used as a feedstock at its petrochemical facilities.
