Larsen & Toubro secures contract for underground road tunnel project in Mumbai
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said that the heavy civil infrastructure business vertical of L&T Construction has clinched a monumental contract valued at over INR 7,000 crores. This prestigious project has been entrusted to them by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and involves the design and construction of an Underground Road Tunnel Project that will seamlessly connect Orange Gate on the Eastern Free Way to the Marine Drive Coastal Road in Mumbai.
The extensive scope of work for this groundbreaking project encompasses the design and construction of twin road tunnels, utilizing state-of-the-art Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs). These tunnels will be intricately linked to the existing elevated Eastern Freeway at Orange Gate, near its southern terminus, through innovative transition ramps. Furthermore, they will seamlessly connect to the iconic Marine Drive at Mumbai.
