KBR bags contract for PLINKE technologies from Hanwha Solutions

KBR has bagged a contract from Hanwha Solutions for its PLINKE nitric acid concentration and spent acid recycling technologies for its new production facilities in Yeosu in South Korea.

As per the contract terms, KBR will be responsible for providing a license, basic and detailed engineering design, technical services, as well as proprietary equipment to Hanwha Solutions for producing 160,000 metric tons per year of concentrated nitric acid and treatment and recycling of 240,000 metric tons per annum of spent sulfuric acid.

According to KBR, nitric acid and its derivatives are processed for producing multiple materials like flexible polyurethane foams which assist manufacturers in the bedding, furniture, and automotive sectors in reaching sustainability and energy conservation goals, or precision chemicals like those used in the semiconductor sector.
