The JSW Group, a conglomerate valued at US$ 24 billion, has entered into a triparty Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT) and Sharika Smartec to advance smart grid technology. This collaboration marks a significant step in transforming conventional power systems into flexible, efficient alternatives through innovative solutions.
The partnership will culminate in the creation of the JSW Center of Excellence (JSW-COE) for Smart Grid technologies at the MSRIT campus in Bengaluru. The center aims to become a pivotal hub for research, learning, and development in smart grid and flexible power systems. According to the agreement, the JSW Group will provide a financial grant to the JSW-COE. MSRIT will take on a crucial role in establishing and hosting the center, while Sharika Smartec, a subsidiary of Sharika Enterprises Limited known for its expertise in smart grid technologies, will act as the knowledge partner.
The collaboration is set to leverage the collective strengths and resources of the three parties to foster continuous learning, skill development, and knowledge enhancement for operations staff, engineers, and managerial professionals. The Center of Excellence will offer a comprehensive platform for advanced training and development, which includes a unique “Lab as a Service” model. This model will support the next generation of engineering professionals and startups, providing essential testing and consultative support.
With the integration of technologies such as AI, deep learning, big data, blockchain, networking, and automation, the demand for innovative solutions in power and energy systems has grown exponentially. The JSW Center of Excellence at MSRIT will address these needs by providing state-of-the-art learning, design, development, and implementation capabilities.
Located in Bengaluru, the JSW-COE is poised to become a leading center for innovative research and training in power systems. It will contribute significantly to the growth and advancement of the energy sector by equipping engineers, graduates, and technical staff with cutting-edge skills and knowledge. This initiative not only supports the professional development within the energy sector but also aims to meet the evolving demands of the industry, ultimately enhancing the production of skilled manpower.
