JSW Energy begins commissioning of 450MW Tuticorin wind farm in Tamil Nadu
JSW Energy said that its step-down subsidiary JSW Renew Energy Two has begun the commissioning of a 450MW wind farm in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu.
The commissioning has been initiated for the first phase of the ISTS-connected project, for a capacity of 27MW.
The Tuticorin wind farm was awarded to the company under Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) tranche X.
Underpinned by a 25-year power purchase agreement with SECI, the project is the first greenfield wind farm to be commissioned by JSW Energy.
Apart from the Tuticorin wind farm, the JSW Group company is also constructing 1.8GW of new renewable energy capacity with an aim to achieve 10GW capacity ahead of its FY25 timelines, and a capacity of 20GW by FY30.
Prashant Jain — JSW Energy Joint Managing Director and CEO said: “We are happy to announce the first part commissioning of the SECI X wind project ahead of the schedule. This is an initial step towards progressive commissioning of the green field 450 MW wind project.
“With this, renewables capacity continues to gain share in our operational capacity mix as we are committed to achieving net zero by 2050.”
