Jindal Stainless commissions precision strip mill at Hisar facility

Jindal Stainless (Hisar) Limited (JSHL) has commissioned a precision strip mill as part of the first phase of its INR 450 crores brownfield expansion plan at its specialty products division (SPD).

According to the Indian manufacturer, the precision strip mill will have a capacity of 26,000 tonnes per annum (TPA).

Jindal Stainless said that the capacity expansion takes its total precision strip production capacity from the existing 22,000 TPA to 48,000 TPA.

The capacity expansion of precision strips will further consolidate its footprint in the auto, oil and petrochemical, and process industry among other sectors. Apart from that, it will augment supplies to aerospace and .

It is part of Jindal Stainless’ plan to utilize its position in specialty and value-added products. Following the expansion, the operational capability of the company will go up and products up to 650 mm width will be manufactured.

Jindal Stainless said that the expansion will help it further to strengthen its position in the global market.

As part of the expansion of the specialty products division, the company will ramp up its total precision strip capacity to 60,000 TPA by the end of Q2FY23 with a projected CapEx of INR 250 crores.

To grow its market outreach, the stainless steel manufacturer will also augment its blade steel capacity from the existing 14,000 TPA to 24,000 TPA over a period of two years with a projected total CapEx of INR 200 crores.
