Istanbul wind farm : Nordex wins 187MW turbine order for second phase
The Nordex Group revealed winning a 187MW order from the Caba Grup for the second construction phase of the Istanbul wind farm in Turkey.
As per the contract, the German turbine manufacturer will supply 39 of its N133/4800 turbines for the Turkish wind project.
The order also includes a premium service contract for the turbines for a period of 15 years.
Delivery of the turbines by Nordex for the second construction phase of the Istanbul wind farm is slated for late summer 2021.
Previously, in 2019, the German turbine maker had received an order to supply five N133/4800 turbines for the first 24MW construction phase of the Istanbul wind farm. Currently, the first turbine is being installed at the Turkish wind farm while the remaining turbines are under construction.
Upon completion, the wind farm, which is located 50km northwest of Istanbul on the Black Sea, will consist of 44 turbines, totaling 211MW.
Nordex said that the turbines for the Istanbul wind farm will be installed on 125m tubular steel towers.
Once the Istanbul power plant is operational, the Caba Grup will get a higher feed-in tariff as Nordex is processing the rotor blades, towers, anchor cages, and generators from Turkey.
The wind farm is expected to generate 850GWh annually, based on the average annual wind speed of eight meters per second, said Nordex.
