ID Logistics acquires Spedimex to bolster presence in Polish contract logistics market

French contract logistics and supply chain management company, ID Logistics, has successfully acquired 100% of Spedimex, a contract logistics firm in Poland, for an enterprise value of PLN 350 million (€77 million).

The acquisition, which was initially announced in March 2023, further strengthens ID Logistics’ position in the Polish market.

Founded in 1993, Spedimex has established itself as a key player in contract logistics within Poland, particularly excelling in the fashion, e-commerce, and cosmetics sectors, catering to both international and domestic brands. Aside from contract logistics services, Spedimex boasts a robust distribution and transport network, as well as offering value-added logistics services and meticulous preparation.

With operations across 15 sites in the country, encompassing an impressive total area of 230,000 m², Spedimex has implemented sophisticated mechanization and technology solutions to manage large and intricate flows, including store and e-commerce returns from over 15 European countries for a single customer.

ID Logistics, led by Eric Hémar, reported revenues of €2.5 billion in 2022. With a presence across 17 countries and a network of 365 sites, ID Logistics manages more than 8 million square meters of warehousing facilities worldwide, supported by a dedicated workforce of 30,000 employees.

The acquisition of Spedimex was executed through a combination of cash payment amounting to €23.5 million and the issuance of new ID Logistics Group shares worth €53.9 million to Marcin Bąk, former main shareholder and CEO of Spedimex. This makes Marcin Bąk a 3.2% shareholder of ID Logistics Group.

ID Logistics’ strategic decision to acquire Spedimex stems from the alignment of their cultures and the striking similarities in their business models.
