Hero MotoCorp ends 2024 on a high note with record sales and bold plans for 2025
Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, concluded 2024 with a remarkable achievement: 5.9 million units sold globally. This 7.5% increase over the previous year underscores the company’s resilience and strategic focus on innovation, customer satisfaction, and global market expansion.
2024 Performance: A Year of Record-Breaking Growth
The company’s growth across key segments cemented its leadership in the two-wheeler market. Hero MotoCorp’s motorcycle sales growth was driven by strong demand in the 125cc segment and the evolving electric vehicle market. The introduction of models such as the Hero Xtreme 125R and the premium Mavrick 440 resonated with diverse customer preferences, further solidifying Hero’s market share.
CEO Niranjan Gupta attributed this success to strategic product launches, expanding international operations, and a record-setting festive season. The company also achieved its highest-ever revenue and profits in the first half of FY25, reflecting robust financial health and operational efficiency.
Expanding Global Business Operations
Hero MotoCorp’s global business expansion in 2024 was marked by a 49% increase in international sales. This milestone was achieved through the launch of eight new region-specific models tailored to local customer needs. The company inaugurated a cutting-edge assembly facility in Nepal and announced the establishment of a wholly owned subsidiary in Brazil.
Hero also ventured into the Philippines, marking its entry into Southeast Asia, and announced plans to debut in European and UK markets by late 2025. These moves underscore Hero MotoCorp’s commitment to becoming a dominant player in the global two-wheeler market.
Accelerating Innovation in the Electric Vehicle Market
Hero MotoCorp took significant strides in the electric vehicle (EV) segment, a key focus area for the company. The sale of over 46,662 VIDA V1 e-scooters in 2024 highlights growing consumer interest in sustainable mobility solutions. To support this demand, Hero has established a robust charging network, with over 3,100 charging points spanning 250+ cities in India.
Additionally, the launch of the VIDA V2 series brought affordability to the EV market, making electric mobility more accessible to a wider audience. These developments position Hero as a forward-thinking player in the competitive electric vehicle market.
Strengthening Premium Offerings and Customer Experience
The premium motorcycle segment witnessed significant growth, with Hero MotoCorp introducing high-end models like the Mavrick 440 and expanding its partnership with Harley-Davidson. This collaboration led to new variants of the Harley-Davidson X440 and plans to develop a motorcycle for select international markets.
To enhance the retail experience, Hero MotoCorp opened over 60 Premia dealerships and inaugurated 400 Hero 2.0 stores in 2024. These state-of-the-art outlets provide dedicated spaces for premium motorcycles, electric scooters, and Harley-Davidson models, offering customers a seamless and elevated buying experience.
Sustainability and Innovation at the Core
Hero MotoCorp’s commitment to sustainability was evident in its improved Dow Jones Sustainability Index score, where it ranked first in the Indian two-wheeler sector and fourth globally in the automotive industry. The company’s manufacturing facilities also received accolades, including certification as zero-waste-to-landfill operations.
On the innovation front, Hero MotoCorp’s Surge S32 was named one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Best Innovations of 2024, showcasing its leadership in product development and design excellence.
A Promising Outlook for 2025
As Hero MotoCorp gears up for 2025, it plans to unveil an exciting lineup of premium motorcycles, scooters, and electric vehicles at the Bharat Mobility event. With an emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and customer-centric solutions, the company is poised to maintain its leadership in the two-wheeler market.
