In a significant move towards sustainable urban transportation, Heramba GmbH and Heramba Holdings have confirmed a binding agreement to acquire Kiepe Electric from Knorr-Bremse Aktiengesellschaft’s subsidiaries. Recognized worldwide, Kiepe Electric specializes in the electrification of road and rail urban transport and was a forerunner in introducing its High Power Charging platform in 2022, optimizing fast charging for battery-electric buses.

Kiepe Electric’s innovative edge lies in its holistic solutions spanning from power electronics, electric drives, and vehicle controls to its intelligent fleet and energy management software. Furthermore, their comprehensive dashboard integrates the entire process from charging systems to the end-vehicle. A noteworthy development includes Kiepe’s prowess in In-Motion Charging solutions, cementing its position as a market leader.

Dr. Hans-Jörg Grundmann, Heramba’s Managing Director, expressed his enthusiasm: “The Kiepe acquisition marks a progressive phase for Heramba. Kiepe’s trajectory of growth, commitment to sustainable mass transit, and its array of premium products and services makes it poised to lead in commercial electrification.”

The acquisition underscores several strategic highlights that will shape the future of urban transportation. Firstly, it sets the stage for the emergence of a specialized global leader in eco-friendly urban transport. This move is also anticipated to significantly boost the growth prospects of the urban transport market on a global scale.

Moreover, the acquisition champions an asset-light business model, positioning the company to serve premium clients in both the rail and road sectors across the U.S. and Europe. All these initiatives will be expertly navigated under the helm of a seasoned leadership team.

Bolstering its stature in sustainable transit, Kiepe Electric now boasts a robust workforce of over 580 professionals across six nations. The company’s financial health is equally impressive, registering revenues surpassing $120 million in 2022. This landmark acquisition is set for completion in the latter half of 2023, awaiting standard closing protocols.
