In a stunning crackdown on the recent communal violence in Nuh, Haryana’s Home Minister Anil Vij unleashed a major offensive against social media, blaming it for fueling the recent unrest. Announcing the formation of a three-member committee to monitor social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp from July 21 onwards, Anil Vij warned that provocative posts will be scrutinized, and stringent legal action will be taken against individuals spreading hatred or misinformation.

The sensational move comes in the wake of escalating violence in Haryana’s Nuh district, where clashes erupted, leading to six deaths, including two home guards and a cleric. With the state government imposing suspension on mobile internet and SMS services in various parts, the minister’s call to use social media responsibly sends a chilling message.
