ENGIE collaborates with Google to expand carbon-free operations in Belgium

ENGIE, a leader in low-carbon energy solutions, has announced its support for ‘s operational expansion in Belgium through five new corporate power purchase agreements (cPPAs). This collaboration highlights a robust partnership aimed at achieving Google’s ambitious goal of net-zero emissions and 24/7 carbon-free energy by 2030.

ENGIE will provide Google with the full output of four new onshore wind farms in Belgium, collectively adding 26 MW to the grid. Additionally, an existing agreement for 92 MW from another wind park has been extended for eight years, culminating in a total of over 118 MW of renewable capacity dedicated to powering Google’s Belgian infrastructure.

These agreements are pivotal, not only for their immediate environmental benefits but also for bolstering ENGIE’s leadership in the PPA market. In 2023 alone, ENGIE secured 2.4 GW of green electricity commitments from various corporate clients, showcasing its dominant position in solar, onshore wind, and offshore wind sectors.

Under its #ENERGIZE2030 strategy, ENGIE is committed to accelerating the capacity in Belgium to 2.5 GW by 2030. This initiative will draw upon ENGIE’s global expertise to deliver a carbon-free, reliable, and affordable energy system.
