Intelligent power management giant, Eaton, unveils a game-changing platform tailored for data center operators eager to fast-track their digital transformation. Their latest offering under the Brightlayer Data Centers suite boasts an industry-first; it merges asset management, IT and operational technology (OT) device monitoring, power quality analytics, and advanced electrical oversight, all encapsulated within a single native application.
Mike Jackson, Global Director of Product, Data Center and Distributed IT software at Eaton, emphasized, “The complexity in today’s IT and OT asset ecosystems demands a unified approach. Traditional point solutions can’t provide the depth of visibility required, especially as data centers diversify into hyperscale, multi-tenant, and edge locations. Our innovative suite not only streamlines infrastructure asset management but also ensures effortless integration with other software, allowing for scalable software capabilities as operational needs evolve.”
Harnessing Data for Greater Sustainability and Efficiency
Data center operators are increasingly harnessing data to meet sustainability benchmarks amid rising pressures to diminish carbon footprints. A recent Eaton-commissioned study by S&P Global Market Intelligence found that 40% of operators are using digitalization to trim energy expenses. Additionally, over a third are pinpointing areas to cut waste, like heat or materials. Remarkably, nearly half are employing digital technology to monitor their performance in line with sustainability objectives.
Rich Farrell, APAC Regional Director of Cybersecurity, Digitalization, and Data Center at Eaton, noted, “The rapid digital adoption in the APAC region, coupled with AI’s burgeoning integration across industries, signals a growing demand for seamless data center infrastructure management.”
Brightlayer Suite’s Features and Compatibility
Eaton’s latest suite is a one-stop solution for overseeing critical power management tools, ranging from UPSs and PDUs to generators, solar equipment, and more.
The platform rolls out three distinct solutions:
1. Data Center Performance Management software: Provides real-time monitoring, alerting, and reporting to enhance uptime while optimizing expenditures.
2. Electrical Power Monitoring System software: Grants both real-time and historical insights into power usage, assisting facilities in reducing operational costs and achieving sustainability metrics.
3. Distributed IT Performance Management software: Oversees network-linked tools, offering proactive interventions and built-in cybersecurity features to fend off potential threats.
Brightlayer’s adaptability is noteworthy. Post-launch, users can infuse additional functionalities without the hassle of data migration or software integration. The suite’s compatibility extends to third-party software, promising heightened efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
Brightlayer’s Showcase at Data Center World Asia
Eaton is set to spotlight the enhanced Brightlayer Data Center Suite, alongside other cutting-edge solutions, at the upcoming Data Center World Asia in Singapore on 11 and 12 October 2023.
