Double explosion rocks Kyiv court: One dead, two injured

In a disturbing incident, the capital city of Ukraine, Kyiv, was shaken by twin explosions in a local court, leading to one fatality and two injuries.

The deceased is reportedly the individual who initiated the blast, according to early reports. Two law enforcement officers, involved in storming the court premises, were among the wounded.

The Ukrainian Interior Minister, Igor Klymenko, informed via social media that the suspect detonated himself on the court premises. This led to the injuries of two law enforcement officers who were part of the response team. The initial explosion happened in the court’s restroom around 5.20 p.m. local time.

Early insights suggest that the man who detonated the explosive was brought in for a court hearing. So far, no connections have been established between the suspect and Russia, which initiated a full-scale invasion against Ukraine the previous year.

In the aftermath of the explosion, multiple law enforcement and special forces teams, along with explosives experts and other necessary services, were dispatched to the location. Reports from AFP news agency indicate a second explosion was heard in the district court following the initial blast. Local media coverage reveals that two individuals were transported from the scene on stretchers after law enforcement arrived.
