Tata Power, a major Indian electricity utility company, has been awarded a project for the implementation of smart metering in Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited (CSPDCL).
CSPDCL, a government-owned electricity distribution company, is tasked with supplying electricity to consumers throughout Chhattisgarh, a state in central India.
The Letter of Award (LOA) was granted after a competitive bidding process for three different packages within the Chhattisgarh Discom. Emerging victorious in package 2, Tata Power’s project is valued at around INR 1,744 crores and is set to run over a decade.
Dr Praveer Sinha — Tata Power CEO and MD said: “We are pleased to announce that we have won a significant order worth ₹ 1,744 crore to implement Smart metering project in Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited. It is a testament to our execution expertise in delivering high value and specialized projects which are aimed at transforming the power distribution domain.”
The project entails the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of smart meters for consumers and distribution transformers. Moreover, Tata Power will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of these smart meters.
The project falls under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) and is projected to reduce Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses in the specified area, thereby boosting revenue collection for CSPDCL.
