Bigeye acquires Data Advantage Group to enhance data pipeline observability

Bigeye, the data observability company, has acquired Data Advantage Group, a California-based provider of enterprise metadata management and data governance solutions, for an undisclosed price.

The deal brings together Bigeye’s observability expertise with Data Advantage Group’s advanced data lineage capabilities, providing a comprehensive and sophisticated view of data pipelines unparalleled among data observability providers.

Founded by Geoffrey Arone, Data Advantage Group has spent two decades developing MetaCenter, the world’s leading metadata collection and data lineage platform. It has an impressive track record of managing metadata, change control, and data governance across multiple sectors, including financial services, industrial, government, and healthcare.

With businesses shifting towards cloud data warehouses and cloud-native data tools, they often rely on various traditional data stack components. This includes application and transactional databases, ETL tools, and business intelligence (BI) and analytics tools. Previously, the data observability market primarily focused on traditional cloud data warehouses. Now, the combined capabilities of Bigeye and Data Advantage Group will address this shortfall and revolutionize data pipeline monitoring.

Integrating Data Advantage Group’s extensive data lineage connectivity will equip Bigeye with the most advanced platform for mapping intricate enterprise data pipelines.

Customers will benefit from unique data lineage capabilities, such as the ability to automatically map column-level lineage within transactional databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server. Furthermore, Bigeye will provide job-level visibility within ETL platforms and extend visibility into various business intelligence tools.

Geoff Rayner — Data Advantage Group CEO said: “We are excited to be able to combine the class-leading capabilities of Bigeye’s data observability platform with MetaCenter’s data lineage automation.

This acquisition amplifies Bigeye’s success in resolving data quality and data pipeline issues for both public and private sector clients. With the added lineage and metadata capabilities from Data Advantage Group, Bigeye will empower customers to unlock the full potential of their data, reduce costs, and address data issues proactively.
