Bharat Forge, Harbinger Motors to develop electric powertrains for trucks

Kalyani Powertrain, a wholly owned subsidiary of Indian automotive forging company Bharat Forge, is set to create a joint venture (JV) with Harbinger Motors, a US-based commercial electric vehicle (EV) company, to develop electric drivetrains for commercial trucks.

Named as , the JV will utilize the strengths of the two companies in providing drivetrains for the Class 3 through 8 markets. It will initially start operations at the Pune facility of Kalyani Powertrain in .

Leveraging Kalyani Powertrain’s global manufacturing experience in India, Europe, and North America, the JV will be a volume manufacturer of electric powertrains for Harbinger Motors.
