Basics, a new food market from the Wild Rose Food Company, which is claimed to help people cook more at home with fresh, regional ingredients, is set to open this month in Tualatin, Oregon.
To be located at 8680 SW Old Tualatin Sherwood Road, across from Dutch Bros. Coffee, the Basics food market store will bring together seasonally rotating meal stations, nutrition classes, and cooking demos, all under a single roof.
Locally-owned Basics food market is said to provide a new way to shop, cook and learn. The Wild Rose Food subsidiary works directly with local producers to minimize distribution costs and waste, and also for preserving nutrition to provide high-quality food products at lower prices.
Basics’ first food market store opened doors in 2017 on campus in the Faubion School, while a second market came up in 2018 on the Sandy Boulevard in northeast Portland. A fourth location after the Tualatin market will open in the Pearl District in Portland later this winter, which will have additional amenities like the Wild Rose bottle bar and beer shop to bring regional wines and craft beers. There will also be an on-tap and an on-site cheese aging chamber.
Fernando Divina – president of Basics markets said: “Thousands of people pass by this location as they go about their busy lives. Our hope is that this store will be an oasis of meal inspiration and delicious ingredients, making it easier for people to get dinner on the table with foods they trust.”
According to Basics, its location has a small format layout, allowing shoppers to find ingredients organized by recipes developed by award-winning chefs and vetted by staff nutritionists.
The Basics food market store in Tualatin will have the Discovery Kitchen classroom, the Northwest Proteins counter having fish, Pacific Northwest fresh and cured meats, poultry, and plant-based selections, fresh, seasonal produce, and organic milk products, eggs and others.
