Asian Granito India Limited (AGL), a prominent name in luxury surface products, has embarked on a new journey by stepping into the sanitaryware production sector. AGL Sanitaryware Pvt. Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary, has commenced its commercial operations in Morbi, signaling a major strategic shift from dependency on third-party sourcing to embracing internal manufacturing.
Capacity and Commercial Operations:
The new sanitaryware plant, boasting an annual production capacity of 0.66 million pieces, began its commercial operations on 1st October 2023. This move is not just a mere expansion but a significant step towards enhancing AGL’s market presence in the sanitaryware space, aiming to replicate the success it has seen in the tiles sector.
Diverse and Extensive Product Range:
AGL now offers an impressive range of over 300 SKUs in Sanitaryware & Bathware. This range includes a variety of products such as urinals, faucets, water closets, basins, and more, showcasing the company’s commitment to providing high-quality and comprehensive sanitaryware solutions.
Leadership’s Perspective and Vision:
Kamlesh Patel, Chairman and Managing Director of Asian Granito India Ltd, emphasized the strategic importance of this transition. He noted, “Previously relying on third-party manufacturers and imports, the company aims to leverage its extensive marketing and distribution network for tiles to establish a formidable presence in the sanitaryware sector.” This is further strengthened by the appointment of a Chief Operating Officer with over 25 years of experience in the Bathware industry.
Morbi’s Role and Long-term Goals:
Morbi, a key industrial hub in India, plays a pivotal role in AGIL’s expansion strategy. The region is responsible for over 80% of the country’s production in the ceramic tiles and sanitaryware sector. With the Enhanced Strategic Integration Programme (ESIP), AGL aims to achieve a total revenue target of Rs. 6,000 Crores.
Financial Milestones and Future Outlook:
Following a successful rights issue in May 2022, where AGL raised Rs. 441 crores, the company has judiciously utilized the proceeds to set up two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Morbi. Hiren Patel, Associate at AGL Bathware division, expressed confidence in the rapid growth and market share increase in the sanitaryware space, projecting a turnover of around Rs. 400 crore from this division in five years.
Conclusion:
In just two decades, Asian Granito India Ltd has risen to prominence as a leading brand in luxury surfaces and bathware solutions. With a vast product portfolio and a robust distribution network, the company is well-positioned to make significant strides in the sanitaryware industry, aligning with its vision to become a top player in this space.
