Alion Science and Technology wins F-35 Lightning II JPO related contract

Alion Science and Technology has bagged a $77 million task order from the US Air Force for providing aircraft and weapons systems research and development for the F-35 Lightning II Joint Program Office (JPO).

The task order has a 60-month period of performance.

Alion Science and Technology won the contract under the multiple-award contract (MAC) vehicle of the Department of Defense Information Analysis Center (DoD IAC).

Terri Walker-Spoonhour – Acting Senior Vice President and General Manager of Alion Science and Technology Cyber and Electronic Warfare Group said: “Alion has bought together a team with key capabilities to provide affordable solutions to the F-35’s most pressing challenges and is uniquely qualified to deliver integrated solutions to the JPO that are required to advance F-35 systems into the next generation.

“Alion has a long partnership with the F-35 JPO and demonstrated strengths in researching and identifying alternatives that affect aircraft and weapons system’s life cycle affordability, approaches to resolve technical or supportability deficiencies and design, as well as integrating and validating solutions.”

Under the contract, the company will be responsible for providing research, technical studies, and analysis on weapons systems and platforms. These include shipboard and airborne radar and electronic systems, weapons control systems, electrical generation systems, aircraft launch and recovery equipment, engines, support equipment, along with other complex machinery.

Additionally, Alion Science and Technology will be providing solution alternatives for weapons systems and platforms and also avionic and shipboard systems.
