Adani Power ropes in Black & Veatch to streamline thermal power assets

Adani Power Limited (APL) has roped in Black & Veatch for streamlining its operations and boost the reliability and performance of its power assets in India to achieve goals such as cutting carbon emissions.

According to Black & Veatch, the Indian thermal power producer will install its predictive analytics software at 23 thermal units for real-time tracking of the health and performance of critical assets across the fleet.

Black & Veatch said that the implementation will underpin reliable, efficient, and sustainable operation of close to 12GW of thermal power generation infrastructure in India by reducing unplanned shutdowns and enhancing operational efficiency.

Jayadeb Nanda — Adani Power Limited Chief Operating Officer said: “The challenges that India’s power sector has undergone in recent years have tested the resilience of our business model. By implementing the asset performance management solution, Black & Veatch will provide additional data-driven monitoring and diagnostics services to Adani Power Limited from its India and global centers.

The remote monitoring and diagnostics services are said to result in repeatable, successful processes, flag anomalies in performance, recommend investigative steps, and formulate immediate remediation actions, and long-term strategies for lessening risk and decreasing costs across a range of plant sizes and environments.
