Adani Group breaks ground on Vizag data center and technology business park
The Adani Group has broken ground on an integrated data center and technology business park in Visakhapatnam (Vizag), Andhra Pradesh.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and some of the prominent officials of the Adani Group.
Adani Group’s investments in the Vizag data center and technology business park will add to the INR 20,000 crores invested already in Andhra Pradesh, which is said to have generated over 18,000 jobs and 54,000 indirect roles.
The project includes an information center, a technology and business park, as well as a training center that will create jobs for local communities apart from providing new growth avenues within the region, linking Vizag to the Asia-Pacific (APAC) technology ecosystem.
AdaniConneX, which is a 50:50 joint venture of Adani Group’s main company Adani Enterprises with EdgeConneX, will have an integrated 300MW data center in the Vizag hub.
The park is expected to be completely powered by renewable power and will be connected to a submarine and terrestrial infrastructure to facilitate the development of cloud and new technologies within the region.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said: “The establishment of 300 MW data centers by the Adani Group will facilitate the laying of a submarine cable from Singapore and help change the future dynamics of broadband services.
“The technology park will propel Vizag into a tier-1 city which will also deploy renewable sources of energy to power it up.”
The integrated hub will become the largest hyperscale data centers in India, said Adani Enterprises and will be part of AdaniConneX’s investment roadmap. It will also serve as a model investment for other locations.
Gautam Adani — Adani Group Chairman said: “With the advancements in AI, high-definition content and massive digitization, the need for compute and storage is increasing exponentially. Andhra Pradesh, with its geographical advantages of land for renewable energy and a long coastline, is well positioned to host data center parks not only for our country but also for those nations that are short of land or energy.
“What the Adani Group brings through our ports, data centers and green energy capabilities is a uniquely powerful combination of unmatched strategic adjacencies within the data center world.”
