ACC and Ambuja Cements, integral parts of the Adani Group, have taken a significant leap towards sustainability by launching two new facilities dedicated to innovative waste management solutions. The Ambuja Marwar Pre-processing and Co-processing Facility and the ACC Jamul Co-processing Facility are set to revolutionize the way waste is managed in the cement industry, highlighting the Adani Group’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development.

The Ambuja Marwar Facility, with the capacity to transform 220,000 tons of waste into alternative fuels annually, represents a pivotal advancement in sustainable waste management practices. By achieving a Thermal Substitution Rate (TSR) of 15%, this facility not only mitigates environmental impact but also provides a sustainable model for waste management in the cement industry. A notable aspect of this initiative is the collaboration with the Ambuja Marwar Farmer Producer Organization (FPO), which will supply 50,000 tons of agro-waste. This partnership not only furthers the facility’s sustainability goals but also supports local communities by offering alternative livelihood opportunities.

Simultaneously, the ACC Jamul Facility is poised to increase its plant’s TSR to 10% by co-processing an additional 120,000 tons of alternative fuel. This process, which recycles minerals and recovers energy from waste, plays a crucial role in conserving natural resources and reducing CO2 emissions, underscoring the importance of innovative approaches in achieving sustainability targets.

With the addition of these new facilities, Geoclean will oversee a total of 7 pre-processing units and 13 co-processing units, with the ambitious goal of achieving a 25% TSR by the year 2027-28.

Ajay Kapur, CEO of Cement Business at Adani Group, emphasized the importance of sustainable waste management, stating, “Sustainable waste management is a cornerstone of responsible business. We are not just building structures; we are shaping a sustainable future.” This sentiment reflects the Adani Group’s dedication to environmental conservation and its role in setting new industry standards through innovation and collaboration.
