Tata Motors signs PPA with Tata Power for solar power at Pantnagar plant
Tata Motors Limited has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tata Power for a 7MW captive solar power plant at its Pantnagar automobile manufacturing plant in Uttarakhand.
The Pantnagar solar power plant is expected to produce 215 million units of electricity for potentially offsetting more than 1.7 lakh tonnes of carbon emissions.
Anal Vijay Singh — Tata Motors Plant Head at Pantnagar plant said: “Having won several awards, our Pantnagar plant has always been lauded for its efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in order to achieve net-zero emission goal.
“The plant has been recognized across the industry for its long-successful energy conservation measures. With this agreement, we will further strengthen our journey towards a cleaner and greener future.”

Tata Power and Tata Motors are said to have been closely working on installing solar rooftop projects at some of the latter’s plants in India. So far, Tata Power has installed 45MW of solar rooftop at Tata Motors’ passenger vehicle and commercial vehicle plants in Pune, Jamshedpur, Pantnagar, and Dharwar.
