Zydus Lifesciences (formerly Cadila Healthcare) has secured final approval for Acyclovir Cream, 5% from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)

Acyclovir Cream, 5% is a generic of Zovirax Cream.

According to Zydus Lifesciences, Acyclovir belongs to the antivirals class of medications.

Acyclovir cream is indicated for the treatment of cold sores, including fever blisters and blisters resulting from the herpes simplex virus on the lips or face.

Zydus Lifesciences said that it will launch the product soon in the US market with its manufacturing to take place at its topical manufacturing facility in Changodar, Ahmedabad, India.

As per IQVIA MAT December 2022, the annual sales of Acyclovir Cream, 5% in the US was $16.9 million.
