Wipro to partner with HERE Technologies to offer location-based services
Wipro Limited said that it has entered into a partnership with location data and technology platform HERE Technologies for providing customers from the energy and utilities, transport and logistics, manufacturing, telecom and automotive industry verticals with location-based services.
Based in the Netherlands, HERE Technologies caters to individuals and companies with mapping and location data and related services.
Alongside Wipro, the Dutch firm will develop solutions in the areas of asset tracking, supply chain, logistics, field workforce management, and smart-metering and analytics. The partners will offer private mapping-as-a-service for real-time asset tracking, both indoor and outdoor.
The partners are developing a smart metering solution based on the Internet of Things (IoT), which will give better information to customers on the consumption of energy and asset management.
Sarat Chand — Regional Head and Managing Director of Wipro Benelux said: “We are happy to be partnering with HERE Technologies to co-develop customized solutions, for customers who require location as a key component of their services. We are excited about the future of this partnership and the potential it offers in the journey towards an autonomous world.”
HERE Technologies’ mapping-as-a-service solution is said to help enterprises to create private maps in the field and handle their autonomous vehicles more efficiently, by giving their drivers information on routing time, speed, consumption of fuel, and hazardous conditions.
HERE Tracking will help the customers of Wipro on a real-time basis in monitoring and tracking assets, field engineers and supply chain, both indoor and outdoor, apart from offering analytics to realize operational efficiencies.
Jason Jameson — SVP and General Manager of HERE Technologies APAC said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Wipro to provide location-based services for their customers on a global level.
“Combined with Wipro’s solutions, HERE location technology will open up further opportunities across different industries, providing customers with more relevant and customized solutions, leading to world-class user experiences.”
Last month, Wipro announced a partnership with DataRobot, an augmented intelligence provider, with an objective to accelerate the operationalization of artificial intelligence (AI) across the enterprise.
