Wipro taps seasoned leader Omkar Nisal to drive European growth

Wipro Limited has appointed Omkar Nisal as Chief Executive Officer of its Europe Strategic Market Unit (SMU), effective immediately. The leadership transition, announced by Wipro’s CEO and Managing Director Srini Pallia, underscores the company’s ambitious plans to expand its footprint in Europe’s dynamic technology market. Omkar will take on this pivotal role while continuing to operate out of London and will also join Wipro’s Executive Board.

An experienced leader for a critical role

Omkar Nisal, who has been with Wipro since 2012, brings over a decade of expertise and a track record of high-impact leadership to his new position. His tenure at Wipro has been marked by significant milestones, including his leadership of the Banking-EMEA division. In this capacity, Omkar partnered with financial institutions across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, focusing on key initiatives such as digital transformation, customer journey redesign, and AI-powered automation.

More recently, Omkar served as Senior Vice President and Managing Director for the UK and Ireland, where he managed a regional P&L exceeding $1 billion. His deep understanding of regional market dynamics and customer-centric approach has been instrumental in helping Wipro solidify its presence in key European markets.

Srini Pallia, in his announcement, highlighted Omkar’s visionary leadership and commitment to client success as core reasons for the appointment. He emphasized that Omkar’s knowledge of Europe’s evolving technology landscape positions Wipro to capitalize on emerging opportunities in the region.

Omkar succeeds Pierre Bruno, who has led the Europe SMU for the past four years. During his tenure, Pierre oversaw significant growth in the region, strengthening client relationships and expanding Wipro’s market share. Srini Pallia expressed gratitude for Pierre’s contributions, noting that he will work closely with Omkar during the transition period to ensure continuity and sustained progress.
