Welspun Corp begins pipe manufacturing expansion at Little Rock facility

Welspun Tubular LLC, a subsidiary of Welspun Corp Limited, has commenced a significant pipe manufacturing expansion with a $100 million investment in its Little Rock facility. This project, initially announced in September 2024, aims to enhance the production capabilities of high-frequency pipes, reinforcing Welspun’s position as a global leader in the industry.

The expansion not only showcases Welspun Corp’s dedication to innovation but also underscores its commitment to the Arkansas community. This initiative will create 175 new jobs at the Little Rock facility, providing a vital economic boost to the region. Welspun Corp has been an integral part of the area since establishing its manufacturing operations there in 2007, having already invested over $300 million into the site.

B.K. Goenka, Chairman of Welspun World, highlighted the importance of this pipe manufacturing expansion, emphasizing the strategic role of the Little Rock facility in meeting global demand. He noted that the investment aligns with the company’s ethos of delivering innovative solutions while strengthening its partnership with Arkansas.

The expansion will increase the plant’s capacity to produce high-frequency pipes with diameters of up to 24 inches and wall thicknesses reaching 0.75 inches. With these upgrades, the facility aims to achieve a production capacity of 350 KMTPA, positioning Welspun Corp to address growing infrastructure needs across various sectors.

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders praised the development during the groundbreaking ceremony, describing the Little Rock facility as a cornerstone of the region’s economic growth. She attributed the state’s low-tax, pro-business environment as a key factor in attracting international investments like this pipe manufacturing expansion.

The Port of Little Rock, where the facility is located, continues to play a pivotal role in regional economic development. Vipul Mathur, Managing Director of Welspun Corp, reiterated the significance of the high-frequency pipes produced at the site, stating that the upgrades will further solidify the company’s presence in the U.S. market.
