Walmart launches fulfillment center in Greencastle, boosting logistics and job opportunities
In a significant expansion of its logistics capabilities, Walmart Inc. has inaugurated a new 1.5 million square-foot fulfillment center located at 1915 Ebberts Spring Court in Greencastle, 10 miles north of Hagerstown. This facility represents the fourth of Walmart’s next-generation fulfillment centers, with a fifth already announced to open in 2026.
Strategic Location and Advanced Capabilities
The new Greencastle facility is strategically positioned to bolster Walmart’s capacity to fulfill orders more rapidly and efficiently. It is designed to integrate advanced technology and machine learning to optimize shipping and delivery processes. According to Patrick Heraty, Vice Chairman of the Antrim Township Board of Supervisors, “This facility will be a great benefit to the residents of our county and the greater south-central Pennsylvania region.”
Enhancing Nationwide Service Delivery
This next-generation center is a key component of Walmart’s plan to reach 95% of the U.S. population with next-day or two-day shipping services. It will also support Walmart Fulfillment Services by handling Marketplace items, significantly increasing the company’s overall order fulfillment capacity.
