VTech acquires manufacturing assets of Gigaset Communications to expand in Europe

VTech Holdings Limited, recognized globally for its electronic learning products and as the premier manufacturer of residential phones in the United States, has successfully completed the acquisition of Gigaset Communications GmbH’s assets. This strategic move was financed through VTech’s internal resources, marking a significant expansion of VTech’s manufacturing capabilities into Europe with the addition of Gigaset’s Bocholt, Germany facility. The Assets Purchase Agreement, announced on January 24, 2024, reached completion on April 5, 2024. This acquisition enables VTech to fortify its leadership in the residential cordless phones sector, broaden its market channels and product portfolios worldwide, and enhance its manufacturing presence in Europe.

The acquired assets include Gigaset’s European market-leading DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) cordless phones, enterprise-level business telephony solutions, Android-based mobile communications, and previously, a cloud-based smart home business which was concluded prior to the acquisition. With this acquisition, VTech not only gains its first manufacturing footprint in Europe but also enriches its product diversity and market reach. The operations of Gigaset’s businesses will now be managed under a newly formed entity, Gigaset Technologies GmbH, which signifies a seamless integration of Gigaset’s technological prowess and innovative product lineup into VTech’s extensive portfolio.
